Ep 3: Jesse Newell | Be naturally curious and great stories will come from it

Jesse Newell is an award-winning sports writer as the University of Kansas athletics beat writer for the Kansas City Star and a former colleague of mine when he and I first got our start in journalism out of college at The Emporia Gazette in Emporia, Kan.

Jesse is one of the best writers and storytellers I've ever met, and as a sports writer during a pandemic when no sports were happening, I was interested in hearing from him how he's finding new stories to tell.

What has always stuck with me about Jesse was his ability to connect with his interview subjects in such a way that they opened up to him with very personal and touching stories. And as you'll hear Jesse describe, it all goes back to being naturally curious.
