Ep 40: Nick Laparra | Giving a damn and living an others-focused life

My guest this week is Nick Laparra, the host of the Let’s Give a Damn podcast.

Nick envisions a world where there are fewer walls, longer bridges, and bigger tables, and as you’ll hear, a churning curiosity within his soul drives this mission, even when — as he admits — it goes into some unhealthy places.

Nick and I discuss what it means to live an others-focused life, and we spend quite a bit of time talking about one topic he’s particularly passionate about: the modern state of policing in the United States.

Consider this episode Part 1 of a two-part series on this topic. Next week, you’ll hear my conversation with a police officer to get the law enforcement viewpoint.
